Ulin Wooden Cutting Board – Susan Series

Ulin wood contains natural compounds such as tannins, flavonoids, and saponins. Laboratory studies have shown that ulin wood extract effectively inhibits the growth of bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus (which causes skin infections), Escherichia coli (which can cause diarrhea), and Salmonella typhi. These compounds damage bacterial cell walls, preventing bacteria from surviving on the wood surface.

Ulin wood, also known as ironwood (Eusideroxylon zwageri), is found only in Kalimantan. The wood is estimated to be over 200 years old, as the diameter of an ulin tree increases by less than 3 mim per year. This extremely slow growth results in very dense pores and makes the wood significantly heavier than most other types of wood. Ulin wood sinks rather than floats in water.

The shape and size are consistent according to each series/type; however, the color and grain pattern may differ from the images, as every piece of ulin wood has its own unique grain and natural color variations.
