Alfa Shoofa began as an embroidery business under the name Shoofa Bordir in 1991. In 2008, the company expanded into the batik industry under the name Alfa Batik, and in 2013 both businesses were officially unified under the Alfa Shoofa brand. Alfa Shoofa is committed to preserving the heritage of Kudus batik by reviving traditional motifs that had nearly disappeared while also developing original designs. Selected batik motifs have been protected under Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), and Alfa Shoofa's batik products are certified with the Batik Mark Indonesia (BMI), a national quality assurance certification issued by the Center for Handicrafts and Batik under the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia.
