Bili Droe

Craft Aceh
Bili Droe has been around since 1983 but under the name of the Tunas Karya group. Since 2018 this group has started re-branding under the name Bili Droe. Bili comes from the Acehnese language which means bemban or bamban plant (Donax canniformis), a herb-like plant or bush. The raw material for bili stems is obtained from the mountains around Lampanah Tunong Village. Then the bili stem is split into small blades which are then slightly dried to then be used as a raw material for woven. Woven bili is processed into a variety of unique works of woven crafts such as serving lids, tote bags, wallets, baskets, fish drying racks, flower vases and others.
